A Memo

You cannot answer our prayers, you cannot hear our appeals. You cannot solve our problems, you cannot meet our demands. You cannot fill our bellies, you cannot heal our diseases, you cannot shelter us, you cannot clothe us, you cannot teach us.

You cannot take away our fears, you cannot give us hope. You cannot inspire us, you cannot alert us, you cannot guide us, you cannot comfort us. You cannot save the necks of those who don’t worship you, you cannot stay the hands of those who do.

You cannot do anything you were supposed to do, God. You are incompetent, irresponsible, irreverent and imaginary.

God, you are fired.
